Virtually all the 50-plus pieces in Carol’s well-known Into the Darkness exhibitions were metaphorical. Carols metaphorical work is a very personal move away from the restrictions of realism and into the rich world of the imagination and the frightening but rewarding unconscious. Sometimes figurative, these images are always resonant and powerful.
